8 years strong

0 min read
So, I've been a deviant for 8 years now! I want to do a then & now comparison one of these days... I've finally started cleaning my gallery up. I organized some of the crap, and started uploading some semi-new stuff. I'm working on a few things, and have a few ideas so hopefully I'll get more recent and my gallery will finally be updated! I've been doing a few side projects, and paintings lately. Someone just asked me to help them draw up a clothing line idea for them. Might be doing some logo work, or something. I've been feeling more inspired then I usually do these last couple of months, so hopefully something great will come out of it.

I will, one day soon, fix up my gallery and add a bunch of new stuff. I feel like in the past couple of years I've really expanded myself artistically and have grown quite a bit since I first started here at Deviant art a million years ago. I just work a lot as any adult does, and that makes it hard to come home and want to work some more. I will do it, though. Hopefully before the end of the month. But - thanks to those who've stuck by me and kept a-watchin' even though my submissions are few and far between.

A few tidbits

Well, first of all the blind lady who I was talking about before passed away about a week ago. It's really sad working in a retirement home sometimes. She went to the hospital, and was there for about 2 weeks, and when she felt she was ready, she asked to go back to the home because she didn't have any family. So, she passed away surrounded by the people who took care of her. Getting away from the sad stuff, come tomorrow I'm going to get another tattoo with a friend of mine. That will make 4 people including myself who will have tattoo's that I've drawn/had a hand in. It's really kind of a surreal feeling, because I've thought about tattooi

Dottie,

I read my daughter's comments on my retirement.
I haven't spoken with her in months due to a spat.

Retirement seems to be the most natural state for me.
No time pressure, my only "boss" is my other half of over thirty-nine years. No more hellish commutes.

I am involved in numerous projects and am part of a group called Sacred Crossroads through MeetUp.

My diet is much healthier and balanced as my income is better.
When one retires from the State, ones pension is based upon ones three best years. I took a sizable pay cut when I forcibly demoted from Nursing Administration to Admin. Specialist 1, i.e. low paid receptionist.

Still cooking and creating new dishes and am surrounded by tablets that are dedicated to specific media:

Samsung Galaxy Note for my movie and TV show collection, Kindle Fire for my audio books and a Kindle Paper-white for my e-books.

Barb and I have a shared hybrid,(a cross between a notebook and a tablet) that is for the household needs.

She has her own notebook and I a desktop.

Every afternoon I have coffee or tea with McVitties Digestive Biscuits that I keep in the Tardis Cookie jar that you bought me.

Still remembering you fondly as a good friend, free spirit and artist of well rendered drawings/ creator of wickedly delicious pastries.

Write when you can.

You friend always, Steven
Hello there! My apologies for not seeing this earlier, I haven't been on here much. I'm glad retirement is working out for you, and that you've found interesting things to do in your time. I myself left DPC on the last day of 2017 and am now working in a local school district. My schedule will follow the student's schedule which means I will have the summer off (to spend with my family) and get paid through it. I'm much happier! It sounds like you are as well.

I am also very happy to hear that the cookie jar is getting used! I have the card you left for everyone, it didn't seem right leaving it behind to get lost in the enormous amounts of dusty paperwork.

Thank you for the note! I hope the spat with your daughter has passed by now, and that you continue to enjoy your days.

Dottie
Thanks for the watch. :)
You're my dad's buddy right?
I'm sorry I just noticed you left this comment. No problem! And yes, I know your Dad from work. :) I hope he's enjoying retirement!
I'd told he doesn't know what to do with it.
hey hey!! we're devart friends now!
